What To Wear & How To Decorate For The Holidays

December 9, 2020 By kelley 418 Comments

When your Holiday Outfit matches your Holiday Decor…Is there anything better?! Not in my world!!

I am so passionate about decorating and styling, it is one of the reasons why I started 50 Shades Of Style and why I decided to be an interior decorator! Both have allowed me to use my creative side which I love and I love sharing with all of you.

Whether I am decorating or styling a look, most of my inspiration comes from one particular item, place or thing. My sole inspiration for my holiday decor came from this gorgeous jumpsuit from Saylor.

Saylor is an online brand that is the “Wear-Anywhere Pieces You’ll Consistently Reach For”.

Whether you are looking for standout Holiday Looks like this jumpsuit or or something a more simple like a Cozy Sweaters you will find it at Saylor. I fell in love with this jumpsuit the minute I laid eyes on it. My mind began whirling with colors, textures, and the idea of mixing metals and so much more for my Holiday Look and my Holiday Decor!

Despite 2020 looking much different this year than others past, I decided to kick it up a notch and go all out with my Holiday Decor and Holiday Fashion!

“Shine is my favorite color ” – Marc Jacobs Me to Marc!!  If you love all things shiny and pretty you must check out Dora Mae.

Dora Mae is a local Orlando jeweler who has created a distinctive line of boho-glam jewels with both vintage joy and modern magic!! Her jewelry is my go-to when I want to bring out out show stoppers for my accessories. Check her out her stuff and fall in love too, just in time for the Holidays. Dora Mae Jewelry makes the perfect unique gift for that accessory obsessed gal in your life!

I am wearing a pair of Dora Mae earrings that are a mixture of rose gold and diamonds, perfect pop to top off this look. I also am wearing a designer inspired bracelet from Deborah Shearman Instagram of Katherine Kelly Jewelry on Facebook. She is a lovely local vendor here in Florida. I had the pleasure of meeting her recently at a small holiday outdoor street event in my neighborhood. She has some fabulous pieces be sure to check her out!

Shop this post below for my gorgeous jumpsuit from Saylor; along with similar pieces I have curated for you if you want to recreate this look!

Now lets talk Holiday Decor and How To Decorate…

Are you a decor junkie?! Drop a comment and let me know. Like is said I live for it! I literally made a living out of decorating and it continues to be my passion. This year I knew I wanted to mix metals.

Rose Gold, Silver and Gold came to mind once I saw that beautiful golden jumpsuit from Saylor. I needed to tie in my table scape, Christmas tree and my hutch creating a cohesive look throughout my kitchen and dinning room.

I saw these mini bottle brush trees in a variety of colors at Target. They are perfect for my table scape. I like to start with height and go from there when decorating a table scape.

I added pops of red on the table, in the Christmas Tree and the hutch. I did this to help weave a story of mixed metals and traditional Christmas style together. A great vehicle for my mission was strands of cranberry sprigs throughout.

I am a big fan of traditional Christmas style: reds, greens, plaids ect. So I like to sprinkle that in. I did this with my wrapping paper for the presents under my tree.

Quick decorating hack: Take empty boxes (there are plenty lying around here from my best friend Amazon delivery guy) Ok but seriously wrap the empty boxes for an extra depth IF you want your tree to feel finished, but don’t want to put the “real” presents under the tree just yet.

It just feels more complete to have the tree skirt not lying there bare. It also throws off any of your snoopy loved ones too! Now, I am not saying if these presents are real or just for show, who knows if my kids are reading this. 😉

Now on to my place settings. I set the table for 6. I love these Spode Christmas Tree Dinner Plates. My lovely MIL who we call Momma Jackie gifted these lovely plates to me years ago and they will never go out of style either.

It’s such a historic pattern starring the most cherished symbols of the season, the Christmas Tree!!! These dinner plates are a festive gift, to holiday dining and completes the Christmas celebration!

I kept with the theme of mixed metals popping gold in by adding this trendy gold silverware and chargers. I have linked similar pieces here for you to shop . I completed the setting with these mini wreaths and ribbon, along with white napkins giving a crisp clean feel.

Don’t be afraid to mix it up with the place card holders. I grabbed several different place card holders that I have collected over the years and added them to my table scape.

I used snowmen and a tiny little mailbox, and really like the outcome. It makes it less formal and more fun!

Years ago a dear friend of mine helped me decorate my hutch with this gorgeous garland. I always display a nativity scene every year since my kids were little. I also kept this hutch decorated more traditionally tying in my mixed metals on my tree and table scape with the classic decor on the hutch; weaving this theme throughout.

I do not decorate every room in my house. I suggest doing it in the rooms you and your family use the most, so you can all enjoy the beauty that only comes along once a year. It really has brought a lot of Holiday Cheer into my home.

I like some holiday decor throughout the kitchen too. We congregate in this space a lot, so I made a little hot chocolate corner. Adorned with some of my favorite snow globes and a cute little Santa that helps us count down the days until Christmas!

Happy Holidays to you and your loved ones! I hope this article leaves you inspired to decorate, get dressed up and enjoy your Holidays at home! Here are similar pieces for you to shop if you want to recreate my holiday decor creation.

Xo,

Kelley
