What To Wear & How To Decorate For The Holidays

December 9, 2020 By kelley 417 Comments

When your Holiday Outfit matches your Holiday Decor…Is there anything better?! Not in my world!!

I am so passionate about decorating and styling, it is one of the reasons why I started 50 Shades Of Style and why I decided to be an interior decorator! Both have allowed me to use my creative side which I love and I love sharing with all of you.

Whether I am decorating or styling a look, most of my inspiration comes from one particular item, place or thing. My sole inspiration for my holiday decor came from this gorgeous jumpsuit from Saylor.

Saylor is an online brand that is the “Wear-Anywhere Pieces You’ll Consistently Reach For”.

Whether you are looking for standout Holiday Looks like this jumpsuit or or something a more simple like a Cozy Sweaters you will find it at Saylor. I fell in love with this jumpsuit the minute I laid eyes on it. My mind began whirling with colors, textures, and the idea of mixing metals and so much more for my Holiday Look and my Holiday Decor!

Despite 2020 looking much different this year than others past, I decided to kick it up a notch and go all out with my Holiday Decor and Holiday Fashion!

“Shine is my favorite color ” – Marc Jacobs Me to Marc!!  If you love all things shiny and pretty you must check out Dora Mae.

Dora Mae is a local Orlando jeweler who has created a distinctive line of boho-glam jewels with both vintage joy and modern magic!! Her jewelry is my go-to when I want to bring out out show stoppers for my accessories. Check her out her stuff and fall in love too, just in time for the Holidays. Dora Mae Jewelry makes the perfect unique gift for that accessory obsessed gal in your life!

I am wearing a pair of Dora Mae earrings that are a mixture of rose gold and diamonds, perfect pop to top off this look. I also am wearing a designer inspired bracelet from Deborah Shearman Instagram of Katherine Kelly Jewelry on Facebook. She is a lovely local vendor here in Florida. I had the pleasure of meeting her recently at a small holiday outdoor street event in my neighborhood. She has some fabulous pieces be sure to check her out!

Shop this post below for my gorgeous jumpsuit from Saylor; along with similar pieces I have curated for you if you want to recreate this look!

Now lets talk Holiday Decor and How To Decorate…

Are you a decor junkie?! Drop a comment and let me know. Like is said I live for it! I literally made a living out of decorating and it continues to be my passion. This year I knew I wanted to mix metals.

Rose Gold, Silver and Gold came to mind once I saw that beautiful golden jumpsuit from Saylor. I needed to tie in my table scape, Christmas tree and my hutch creating a cohesive look throughout my kitchen and dinning room.

I saw these mini bottle brush trees in a variety of colors at Target. They are perfect for my table scape. I like to start with height and go from there when decorating a table scape.

I added pops of red on the table, in the Christmas Tree and the hutch. I did this to help weave a story of mixed metals and traditional Christmas style together. A great vehicle for my mission was strands of cranberry sprigs throughout.

I am a big fan of traditional Christmas style: reds, greens, plaids ect. So I like to sprinkle that in. I did this with my wrapping paper for the presents under my tree.

Quick decorating hack: Take empty boxes (there are plenty lying around here from my best friend Amazon delivery guy) Ok but seriously wrap the empty boxes for an extra depth IF you want your tree to feel finished, but don’t want to put the “real” presents under the tree just yet.

It just feels more complete to have the tree skirt not lying there bare. It also throws off any of your snoopy loved ones too! Now, I am not saying if these presents are real or just for show, who knows if my kids are reading this. 😉

Now on to my place settings. I set the table for 6. I love these Spode Christmas Tree Dinner Plates. My lovely MIL who we call Momma Jackie gifted these lovely plates to me years ago and they will never go out of style either.

It’s such a historic pattern starring the most cherished symbols of the season, the Christmas Tree!!! These dinner plates are a festive gift, to holiday dining and completes the Christmas celebration!

I kept with the theme of mixed metals popping gold in by adding this trendy gold silverware and chargers. I have linked similar pieces here for you to shop . I completed the setting with these mini wreaths and ribbon, along with white napkins giving a crisp clean feel.

Don’t be afraid to mix it up with the place card holders. I grabbed several different place card holders that I have collected over the years and added them to my table scape.

I used snowmen and a tiny little mailbox, and really like the outcome. It makes it less formal and more fun!

Years ago a dear friend of mine helped me decorate my hutch with this gorgeous garland. I always display a nativity scene every year since my kids were little. I also kept this hutch decorated more traditionally tying in my mixed metals on my tree and table scape with the classic decor on the hutch; weaving this theme throughout.

I do not decorate every room in my house. I suggest doing it in the rooms you and your family use the most, so you can all enjoy the beauty that only comes along once a year. It really has brought a lot of Holiday Cheer into my home.

I like some holiday decor throughout the kitchen too. We congregate in this space a lot, so I made a little hot chocolate corner. Adorned with some of my favorite snow globes and a cute little Santa that helps us count down the days until Christmas!

Happy Holidays to you and your loved ones! I hope this article leaves you inspired to decorate, get dressed up and enjoy your Holidays at home! Here are similar pieces for you to shop if you want to recreate my holiday decor creation.

Kelley

Fall Chic With Peach

November 3, 2020 By kelley 512 Comments

“Comfortable never looked so Chic – Peach is back with new transitional pieces loaded with style!!! You won’t find another brand out there that is as chic and comfortable as Peach.  I promise!

So with that said let’s jump into these two new pieces from Peach’s Fall 2020 Collection.

I selected this gorgeous Palermo Blazer – in Black made from an ultra-comfy stretch, faux leather. This is a great layering piece that doesn’t sacrifice comfort. This blazer instantly elevates any look!

That is why I chose to pair it with the Mendoza Dress – in Deep Blue Gray. It is such a cozy sweater dress, yet lightweight enough I can wear it here in Florida!

To finish off my look I chose to add several, different style pearl necklaces, my snake skin heels and a black beaded clutch for some texture. I actually styled this look for a Sunday. It was styled in a series I am doing called “Sunday Best” take a peek here if you would like.

Next I wanted to show you how versatile the Mendoza Dress is. In doing that I took this look to a low key vibe, you know just running around town doing some errands; and the Mendoza Dress is perfect.

Just add a ball cap, some tennis shoes and you are good to go!

Also, one more look using the Palermo Blazer I came up with is this fabulous OOTD by pairing it with a simple black tee and these cute plaid pants. You also can’t go wrong when you have a vintage Prada purse and patent leather shoes too!

Be sure to check out Peach and stay tuned for their Winter 2020 Collection…

Sunday Best Series!

October 17, 2020 By kelley 698 Comments

“Fashion has always been a repetition of ideas, but what makes it new is the way you put it together.”  ~ Carolina Herrera ~

A great example of this ideology is The Leather Jacket…

The leather jacket is a wardrobe icon!

This iconic piece known as the leather jacket has been lended to several different styles and subcultures over the years. It has been transformed again and again but it is a classic and it never goes out of style, even when people keep reinventing it…that is what fashion is!  What makes it new is how one styles it and puts it all together like Carolina Herrera said.

Normally when I think of getting dressed up on a Sunday,  leather necessarily does not come to mind.  However, last week Barbi of Southern Blonde Chic  inspired me to mix things up. Take a look, I know you will love Barbi’s dress too!   Can we just talk about how GORGEOUS Barbi looks today in this beautiful shade of green!!  I have shared with you all before how important it is to find colors that compliment your skin tone and hair color as it will totally enhance your true beauty!  Barbi certainly has done that by selecting this amazing color.  I also love how she added this gold chain belt to put her own touch on this outfit.  Be sure to check out Barbi’s Post for today so you can get all the details of this beautiful outfit!

When styling my look I started first with this simple and beautiful deep blue gray Mendoza Dress from Peach. Believe it or not Peach is an athleisure brand.  I am sure it is hard to tell, but my whole look is from Peach!   Isn’t that fabulous?!

It is one of the reasons I love Peach, they always come out with pieces that can be styled more than one way. I knew I wanted to elevate my look and then it hit me to pair it with the Palermo Blazer also from Peach!

The dress and blazer combo is a great blank canvas that I popped with icy tones. The necklace is a bundle of a few different pieces that I have collected over the years. I found a similar one for you to shop!

To finish off my look I added a pair of snakeskin pumps and cute little beaded clutch. My accessories are no longer available…to be honest I bought them both on clearance a while back, but good news…

Here are similar items to shop: Shoes & Bag.

Stay tuned for another Sunday Best post with Barbi as we continue with this series!

Also, later this month I will be sharing more about Peach & how their looks are great for the Gym & Everyday Life!!  I am excited to show you how to dress the Mendoza dress down for a more casual look!

Discover your colors with the Color Guru!

October 5, 2020 By kelley 219 Comments

Why should you have your colors done?  I will give you 3 reasons…

  1. Wearing your ideal colors enhances your natural beauty.
  2. Knowing your colors makes shopping more efficient.
  3. Buying colors in your palette means clothes coordinate easily.

Not every color looks good on every person. The wrong colors can make you look washed out, overwhelmed, tired, and older. No one wants that right?!

Have you ever had your colors done?  I did so recently and I am elated with the results and want to share the process with you!

Meet Jeannie of Color Guru.  Jeannie is the creator and genius behind this MUST HAVE service.

Jeannie offers 3 different packages.  Be sure to take a look as there are options for everyone. I chose the Premium package which consists of the following:

  • YOUR COLOR CARD (your best shades!)
    • digital (for your phone)
    • laminated (for your bag)
  •  YOUR COLOR RADIANCE REPORT
    • exclusive color tests performed on your photo
    • identification & description of your seasonal type
    • how to shop like a ninja with your color card
 PLUS…
  • MAKEUP CARDS
    • digital (for your phone)
    • laminated (for your bag)
  • 50 MIN Q&A ZOOM CHAT with Jeannie (founder of Color Guru)
  • CELEBRITY INSPIRATION (celebrities of your type wearing the palette colors!)
  • SILK/CASHMERE PASHMINA, hand-selected for you by Jeannie

Jeannie breaks it down for you in such a simple manner and makes it easy to comprehend and follow. I don’t know about you, but I have always struggled with knowing what makeup to wear. I would get sucked into the makeup counter and buy blindly.  Not any more folks!  Now I have my color card and know what colors are going to work for me and I feel confident when selecting makeup!  Oh, and I am saving so much money!

When I told you Jeannie knows her stuff I meant it.  Take a look at one of the tests she performed for me. It is called the Warm vs Cool Metallics test.

I had no idea that silver or gold could make such a big difference. You can see for yourself though that warm-toned metalics have a brightening and warming effect.  As where the cool-toned metallics are not as flattering.

There are several more tests that Jeannie of Color Guru does to narrow down what your palette is. It turns out that I am a Twilight Autumn.  I have always loved “fall” colors.  I was super excited to find out that was my ideal color palette.

I use to always think that pink was NOT my color, but it turns out that pink has a soothing effect and is flattering on me if it is the right tone.

I also found out that red is a great color on me! I was afraid at times to branch out into red…not anymore!!  I also love wearing yellow, but I learned it needs to be a marigold yellow not bright yellow.

My laminated cards of my colors for clothes and makeup are a staple in my bag like my wallet is.  I literally don’t leave home without it.  Finding out what my ideal colors were also helped me to do a much needed purge and weed out those not so flattering colors.

I highly recommend this service.  With the holidays coming up it makes a great gift. It is something everyone should do just once.  It is so valuable for anyone you know who struggles with colors, and trying to shop and put looks together.  Like I said earlier there is a package for everyone.  Luckily enough Jeannie was kind enough to offer a code for you all.

It is Kelley10 for 10% OFF!!  Be sure to give me a shout if you are inspired to find out what your ideal colors are. I know you will not regret it. Jeannie is very kind, super fun and an authority on color!!!

Be sure to check her out at Color Guru

Kelley

Sunday Best!

October 3, 2020 By kelley 160 Comments

Sunday:

A day to reflect
A day of respect
For all you have been blessed
Let your joy be expressed.

There is something about getting all dressed up that I just love. Some of my fondest memories revolve around getting dressed up for church every Sunday as a little girl.

I still love to get dressed up on Sunday’s for church!  Do you like getting dressed up? Leave me a comment and let me know!

I love it so much that when I started 50 Shades Of Style I decided to dedicate every Sunday’s post to a pretty dress! As time has gone on,  it has become a “thing” and I really enjoy it!  I found out I am not the only one who loves to get all dressed up in their Sunday Best, so does my girlfriend Barbi of Southern Blonde Chic

Barbi is a fellow influencer and fashionista friend who I just adore and I know you will too!  We have teamed up to create a series for you all where we will be sharing our Sunday Best!  We hope you find some style inspiration and have fun shopping our looks while following along with this fun series!

Barbi is such an inspiration to me!  She is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside.  I LOVE that she is wearing this stunning hot pink dress as she is a breast cancer conquerer and just finished her last round of treatments this past month!  As she was going through her cancer treatments her faith never wavered, in fact she was always lifting up all of her friends with beautiful scripture and words of encouragement!  It was such a special day when shared with us that she had just completed her last round of chemo!  We all jumped for joy.  You can read about her cancer journey here.

Look how gorgeous she is in this beautiful Sunday Best dress!  I love how flattering this silhouette is and the neckline makes such a statement.  Make sure to head over to Barbi’s blog post so you can get all the information about her entire look.

As for my dress today..

It is from one of my favorite stores, Versona. They have everything from dresses to shoes, bags, accessories and great gifts for all your lovely ladies in your life! I highly recommend shopping online at  Shop Versona  or in store if one is located near you. This is definitely one place I can go to find my Sunday Best dresses!

This dress has a bit of a “prairie ” vibe and I am not mad about it!  It is called the “Tied For First Dress” .

It has a tie around its waist but I opted for this wide brown belt to give me more definition.  The belt I am wearing is sold out so here is one similar to mine.

If you have been following me you know that jewerly and accessorizing is my absolute jam! I found my passion for fashion via my mother. She is why I love dresses, she always laid out the most beautiful dresses for me to wear on Sunday’s for church.

I continued to carry on this love and I am always reminded of how much my mother also enjoyed getting dressed up. In fact this cameo necklace was once hers. I had it repurposed  into something more current,  yet still reminiscent of my mother’s original piece. How cool is that?! I had this done through a lovely friend and jewerly designer here in Orlando, Florida.  Ansley has done several of my mother’s pieces and given them new life!! Check her out over at Dora Mae Jewelry  you will be blown away her stuff is amazing. My earrings are pretty old, but I found a similar pair!

I love to mix colors, prints and patterns. I took this rather neutral colored look and popped it with my jewelry and the color of my bag and heels!  The bag is from amazon.  I bought one in brown too.  It comes with a strap, but for Sunday’s I like to use a clutch.

Last but, not least how about this ring?! It is a freshwater pearl and gemstone ring from Lobeilia! I love wearing costume jewelry too. Especially when it looks high end, but doesn’t break the bank!  Make sure to use Code 50shadesofstylebykelley30 for 30% off any of their beautiful pieces.

Thanks for sticking around…hope to see you back here next week for another Sunday Best with myself and Barbi!

Kelley

Cabi Spring 2020 Collection Ambassador!

February 4, 2020 By kelley 2,235 Comments

I am so excited to share with you that I am a cabi Ambassador for Spring 2020!

This first ensemble screams spring!  For an effortless look, I paired their Drama Skirt with the Thespian Blouse for the perfect matching set. That is one of the great things about cabi is they make fashion easy and stylish.

For those of you who might not be familiar with cabi : they are an 18 year old, company known for its one-of-a-kind fashion experience.  What I love about cabi is they were created “by women for women.”  There are approximately 3,000 cabi stylists across the U.S., Canada and the U.K. that offer their clients personalized styling services.

How it works is you shop cabi, thru a personal styling appointment online where they can put you in touch with a cabi stylist in your area, or at a Fashion Experience which are also known as trunk shows.  Stay tuned for a future Blog Post where I will be taking you with me on a Fashion Experience with a cabi stylist.

Now let’s get down to the good stuff….The Spring 2020 cabi Collection!  “Spring is a time for renewal and growth, so let’s apply this to your wardrobe.”  As you can see in this next look I kept the Thespian Blouse and added the Grace Trouser and Blazer.  These contemporary  cropped pencil leg trousers are on trend and giving my wardrobe a breath of fresh air.

Not only does cabi offer amazing pieces of clothing, but they also have fabulous shoes and accessories.  “They say history repeats itself” – and cabi is bringing back a few “beloved vintage styles.”  These Bow Kitten Heels as shown in the photo above are the perfect example! From the kitten heel to the adorable striped bow detail, this shoe will definitely elevate any look.

I look forward to sharing with you my love of cabi’s Spring 2020 Collection over the next few months.

My new favorite accessory – Peepers!!

November 29, 2019 By kelley 1,141 Comments

One thing you must know about me when it comes to fashion is,  accessories are ALWAYS the star of my looks!!  I believe that when it comes to choosing accessories, they allow you to bring out your personality and uniqueness.  What comes to mind when I say the word Accessories?  Most likely you are thinking, a great pair of shoes, or an amazing statement necklace, a wonderful structured handbag right????  Well, I want to add one more important item that I bet NEVER entered your mind……….a fabulous pair of EYEGLASSES!  Think about it, if you wear glasses they are most likely the first thing that people see when they look at you.  So, why not make them take a ‘second look’ by wearing the most fabulous brand of eyewear I have found!  Peepers by peeperspecs!

Where do I even start with all the things I love about Peepers?!  They are so fashion forward with such a unique selection of frames and colors, I actually am more excited about choosing which pair I want to wear with each outfit than anything else.  When you see and feel the quality of their frames, you will be amazed when you find out how much they cost!!!  Their average pair range around $25 which makes me even more excited to share them with you.  Here are some of my favorite pairs that I think you will love.

Bravado Frames in Black

Lets start with these fabulous and bold Bravado (Blue Light) fames in black.  If these don’t make a statement I don’t know what can.  I love that they come with Blue Light protection, since so many of us spend countless hours in front of a screen.  It is no surprise this pair was chosen as one of Oprah’s New Favorite Frames for 2019!!  They come in a variety of colors and you can even order them with no correction if you just want to use them as a fashion statement!!!

Coffee Shop frames in Tortoise Wood

These Coffee Shop frames in Tortoise Wood were another pair that I knew I needed to have.  Between the oversized thick frames and the contrast of recycled bamboo arms, they will certainly cause you to stand out!  These come in several other color combinations that you are sure to love.

Center Stage Focus frames in Navy Tortoise

These ‘eye catching’ Center Stage Focus frames, shown above in Navy Tortoise, are listed as not only Peepers most popular frames, but also as one of Oprah’s Favorite Things!  These frames also offer their Focus Blue Light protection from harmful side effects that come from our computer and phone screens.  They also come in six other amazing color ways and trust me I will be going back for several more colors.

Limelight frames in Gray Tortoise

Last but not least, I am wearing these gorgeous Limelight frames in Gray Tortoise.  This pair gave me a fun animal print vibe when I saw them.  All eyes will be on you in this polished style that suits all face shapes.  They also include  Blue Light protection and comes in four other colorways that will compliment any skin tone.  You can see why these also made Oprah’s Favorite Things list as it did mine!

I can’t say enough great things about Peepers and I feel super confident recommending any of their fashion forward frames for you to purchase for yourself or as a gift.  The fact that they are so affordable makes me love them even more.  Lets face it, if you are like me we sometimes misplace our readers (does that come with age)lol, but seriously, as affordable as they are, you can buy several pairs to leave around the house in case of a mishap.

Now you understand why Peepers is now my New favorite accessory and hopefully it will be yours too!

XO

Enjoy a Cozy Winter with Peach!

November 27, 2019 By kelley 1,900 Comments

This is my favorite time of year!   As the chill in the air has arrived so comes the time to bundle up with fabulous warm cozy outfits!  I am excited to show you the new Winter ’19 Collection from Peach.  This collection is called Nordic Lights, and it might be my favorite yet from Peach!  They describe it as ‘Cozy meets Festive’ and I would have to totally agree as these pieces can take you from brunch to parties, or a football game to lounging by a fire.  All the things I love to do this time of year!  I decided to pick a few great outerwear pieces for myself as well as a ‘Chic’ jogger set that I absolutely love and wanted to share with you, so here they are.

First up is this fabulous Faroe Sherpa Jacket.  I selected the color Cloud because I just love wearing white in the winter.   I love it as shown here with denim and booties, but this jacket has taken me to the gym in the cold morning hours.  It is so cozy and I love that it is fully lined.  It is designed to give a relax fit and I purposely sized up one size (Size Small) and I am really happy I did.  This jacket ranges from XXS to XXL and also comes in a beautiful rose color as well.  I can’t say enough great things about this great piece.

Next up is this adorable Polar Pom Hoodie in the color Carbon.  I mean, can you ever be too old for Pom Poms??  I can’t tell you how many compliments I have gotten on this fun cropped jacket.  There are so many great details on this jacket, from the faux fur hoodie, to the velvet draw string cords.  It is the perfect versatile piece that works with jeans, leather pants and even your favorite pair of leggings.  It is also fully lined and it is so soft and cozy.  I would say this jacket is true to size (I am wearing an XS) and it also comes in a range from XXS to XXL and comes in the color Cloud.  If you are wanting to stand out in the crowd, treat yourself to this fabulous jacket!

I might have saved the best for last with this luxurious stretch velvet  Sofie Sweatshirt and Sofie Joggers.  I knew the minute I laid my eyes on these pieces I wanted to get it as a set, but they both stand on their own seperately.  Lets start with the top, I love the oversized funnel neckline with the drawstring detail.  This fabric is so fabulous, you won’t want to take it off.  I stayed true to size on this top (Size XS) and it also comes in a range from XXS to XXL.  If you are a ‘pink’ kind of girl, it also comes in a beautiful Blush color.  Now onto these super chic and comfy Sofie Joggers.  They are also stretch velvet and so cozy you might want to sleep in them!  They have an elastic waistband with an internal drawcord, my favorite thing are the pockets!  They are suppose to have a relaxed look, so I sized up one size (Size Small) and they gave me the fit I was looking for.  They range from XXS to XXL.  I decided to style them for you as I would wear them to a fun night out by adding these leopard booties and a great bag.  But of course, it is the perfect errand running outfit or travel ootd by adding a fun sneaker.  Either way, I promise you this outfit will be on major repeat!

I highly encourage you to check out this entire Nordic Lights Collection and pick yourself up one or two pieces to add to your winter wardrobe.  I would love to hear from you what your favorite pieces are in the comments below.

How to look ‘Slimsational’!

I am super excited to introduce you all to SlimSation , a women’s clothing line that offers a ‘state of the art’ flexible tummy control panel in every piece of clothing they offer!  (Can I get an Amen)!  I was so excited then they contacted me to ask if I would like to try out a pair of their pants to see how I like them and share them with you all!  I didn’t hesitate for a second and was so excited for their arrival!!

I selected their Knit Ankle Pant in black and I am wearing a size 2 (which is the smallest size they offer).  I would recommend sizing down one size in this style pant, as I usually wear a size 0 and I had ample room in the fit.   They are a pull on ankle pant with hem vent &their amazing tummy panel (Yay)!  I am obsessed with their fabric as it is still in the high 90’s here in Florida, and they are so breezy and cool to wear.  Oh, and the best part is the range of sizes they offer in their pants, from size 2 to size 24w!  Fabulous!!

As you can see in the above image everything you are going to achieve when ordering one of their amazing selections of pants!  I can’t recommend SlimSation enough, and I highly encourage you to try a pair!  Who doesn’t want to look 10 pounds lighter and at the same time look so classic and chic!  Thank you so much Slimsation for letting me share the ‘Good News’ to my friends here at 50 Shades of Style!
