A capsule wardrobe is a term coined by Susie Faux, the owner of a London boutique called “Wardrobe” in the 1970’s. A capsule wardrobe consists of essential items of clothing that stands the test of time, never going out of style. 

As time has gone on the term “capsule wardrobe”  has grown to refer to “a collection of clothing that is composed of interchangeable items only, to maximize the number of outfits that can be created.
